La conferenza AWAD rappresenta uno sperimento di abbonamento collettivo (nel senso che è un unico abbonamento nel nome di tutta la comunità di RCM) a una lista Internet (una 'mailing list') di posta generata automaticamente da un listserv e inviata agli abbonati in tutto il mondo. La lista qui riportata si chiama "A Word a Day" e consiste in un messaggio al giorno, ognuno con il lemma di una parola inglese ricercata, seguita normalmente da una citazione che esemplifica l’uso di quella parola e poi da una citazione spiritosa o suggestiva. Gli aderenti di RCM non hanno bisogno di abbonarsi alla lista perché i messaggi quotidiani sono replicati qua (e si può sempre fare un alias sul proprio desktop o nella propria cartella "offline").
"A Word a Day", o AWAD, è stato creato da Anu Garg. Suggerimenti, domande o commenti al creatore della lista vanno poste a anu@wordsmith.org oppure a agarg@ces.cwru.edu e ulteriori informazioni sono disponibili a http://www.wordsmith.org/~anu/anu.html. Anu tiene presente quanto scrivete quando prepara la lista e i FAQ (elenchi di domande ricorrenti) ma non risponde con posta personale.
Il listserv AWAD che gestisce questo servizio è wsmith@wordsmith.org e da esso sono disponibili a volte altri servizi, come specificato di tanto in tanto nei messaggi della conferenza. Quel indirizzo è comunque solo una macchina e quindi si prega di non scrivere là con il commando "reply".

The AWAD conference is an experimental group subscription to an Internet mailing list, the group being the entire RCM community. Such lists automatically generate messages to be sent to subscribers around the world. This particular list is called "A Word a Day" and consists of one message per day, each containing the dictionary entry for a single unusual English word, typically followed by a quotation using that day's word and another waggish or pithy quotation. Members of RCM need not bother subscribing to the list because the daily messages appear in this conference (though you may wish to create an alias on your desktop or in your "offline" folder).
"A Word a Day," or AWAD, was creatd by Anu Garg, who will receive suggestions, comments or questions at anu@wordsmith.org or at agarg@ces.cwru.edu. Further information can be found at http://www.wordsmith.org/~anu/anu.html. Anu cannot answer individual queries but will take mail into account in periodic postings to the list and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) files.
The AWAD listserv is located at wsmith@wordsmith.org and also offers other services from time to time, as specified in announcements to the list. However that address only puts you in touch with a machine so please do not use the "reply" command to write to it.
