I Luo - Luo population
Tra le tribù originarie del Nilo, i Luo sono la terza per numero e vivono sulle coste del Lago Victoria.
Un tempo erano nomadi come i Masai ed allevavano il bestiame, si stabilirono sul Lago Victoria circa 500 anni fa e diventarono pescatori ed agricoltori.
Il loro arrivo causò lo spostamento di altre tribù di lingua Bantù (Gusii, Kuria e Luhya) verso le zone orientali e a nord del Lago.
Negli ultimi 100 anni i Luo sono diventati un popolo semistanziale: oggi sono circa 2.700.000.
Luo, that originally came from Nile region, is the third population of Kenya.
They live along Lake Victoria shores and they originally were a nomadic cattle breeder population like Masai.
They moved to Victoria Lake about 500 years ago and converted themselves to an agricultural and fishing lifestyle. The arrival of the Luo population forced many Bantu speaking population like Gusii, Kuria and Luhya to move to the northern and eastern highlands.
In the last 100 years Luo became a sedentary population: they are actually estimated to be about 2.700.000.
